General Description of Position:
he Building Construction Technology: Dual Credit Support Adjunct Faculty position is a temporary, part-time position hired on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for working with high school teachers who teach dual credit Building Construction Technology classes to create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; adjunct faculty will assist Program/Department Chair with syllabi review, onboarding of dual credit instructors and site visits for dual credit courses.
Major Responsibilities: Provide syllabus templates to dual credit instructors appropriate to course(s) being taught to high school students and insures the instructor follows syllabus content and requirements of Ivy Tech Building Construction Technology courses.
ONBOARDING: Responsible for contacting each assigned dual credit instructor and onboarding them for each Ivy Tech Building Construction Technology course they are teaching for the school year using the ITCC Onboarding checklist provided. Adjunct will discuss ITCC Building Construction Technology Program expectations for each course with each instructor assigned and complete documentation as required. Use technology such as Zoom, Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
SYLLABUS REVIEW: Assist Program/Department Chair with review of syllabi and other submitted material from dual credit instructors including samples of student work, lesson plans and sample of quizzes and tests.
SITE VISITS: Assist with site visits and classroom/instructor evaluation of dual credit instructors throughout the school year. This includes Ivy Tech Community College evaluations and National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications:
A qualified faculty member in Building Construction Technology meets the School of Advance Manufacturing, Engineering, and Applied Science criteria:
1. Meets the full-time faculty discipline standard;
or
2. Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
and,
possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR);
or
3. Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
and,
5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);
or
4. Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education license (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)
and,
possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR);
5. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN COLLEGE OR HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM TEACHING IVY TECH BUILDING CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY DUAL CREDIT COURSES.
